New Year of Mercy Items at Franciscan Gift Shop

December 22, 2015 General

Year of Mercy, also known as Jubilee Year and Holy Year, is a special time period beginning with the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8, 2015 and ending with the Solemnity of Christ the King on November 20, 2016. It was announced by Pope Francis in March of 2015 to encourage Christians all over the world to focus on forgiveness and mercy. The Pope has asked us all to show mercy, be able to accept mercy and “be a witness of mercy.”

In his Year of Mercy announcement speech, Pope Francis said that “no one can be excluded from the mercy of God” and that “to be here to experience His love is first of all the fruit of His grace.”

We hope that you can find the opportunities this year to explore mercy and forgiveness within yourself. And if you need a small token to remind you or your loved one about the Year of Mercy, Franciscan Monastery Gift shop has just added several Year of Mercy items.
